Bradley Jay Little is an Idaho Republican who has served as the state’s 33rd governor since January 2019, following a decade as lieutenant governor (2009–2019) and earlier service in the Idaho Senate (2001–2009). Raised in Emmett, Idaho, he built a reputation as a business-aligned conservative with deep ties to agriculture and the state’s ranching economy.
Little is a University of Idaho graduate and has long combined public service with private-sector experience in farming and livestock operations. In the legislature, he held leadership roles, including Majority Caucus Chair, and developed relationships across Idaho’s business and rural policy networks. As lieutenant governor under Butch Otter, he became a visible statewide figure focused on economic development and trade promotion.
Elected governor in 2018 after Otter declined to seek another term, Little positioned himself as a steady, pro-growth executive emphasizing low taxes, regulatory restraint, and workforce development. He has prioritized infrastructure and broadband, rural healthcare access, and policies aligned with Idaho’s fast-growing population and economy.
Little won reelection in 2022, defeating Democratic nominee Stephen Heidt and independent candidate Ammon Bundy, and has continued to govern from the mainstream conservative lane while facing periodic pressure from more hardline factions within Idaho’s Republican coalition.
