Senator Andy Kim

“I'm honored to serve New Jersey — advancing equity, defending democracy, and delivering for working families.”

Andy Kim

Andy Kim (born July 12, 1982) is the junior United States senator from New Jersey, serving since 2024. A progressive Democrat, he previously represented New Jersey's 3rd congressional district from 2019 to 2024 after flipping the seat in 2018.

Kim is a former national security and foreign policy official who worked at the U.S. State Department and the National Security Council, including civilian advisory work in Afghanistan. He later became widely known for a calm, policy-heavy style in Congress, and for viral images of him cleaning the Capitol after the January 6 attack.

In 2023, Kim launched a high-profile Senate bid amid the Menendez corruption scandal, running on an ethics and reform message while pushing to end New Jersey's “county line” ballot system. He won the 2024 race statewide by roughly 9.6%, consolidating support in the suburbs and along the I-95 corridor.
