Senator Jim Banks

“We must defend freedom at home and around the world with firm strength and conservative values.”

Jim Banks

Jim Banks is the junior United States senator from Indiana, serving since 2025. Before the Senate, he represented Indiana's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House from 2017 to 2025 and previously served in the Indiana State Senate from 2010 to 2016.

Banks grew up in northeast Indiana and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington. He later earned an MBA from Grace College and Seminary. Before elected office, he worked in real estate and construction in the Fort Wayne area and served on the Whitley County Council.

A Navy Reserve officer, Banks took leave from the state senate to serve in Afghanistan during his military deployment. In Congress, he built a profile as a hard line conservative voice on culture issues, border enforcement, and defense, with a national media style that often plays beyond Indiana politics.

In the Senate, he has emphasized national security, tougher China policy, and a working class oriented GOP message that frames industrial policy, apprenticeships, and skills training as core conservative priorities.
