Senator Angela Alsobrooks

“I believe in fighting for every Marylander — for equity, opportunity, and justice.”

Angela Alsobrooks

Angela Alsobrooks is the junior United States senator from Maryland, serving since 2025. A lawyer and longtime Prince George’s County leader, she previously served as the county’s State’s Attorney (2011–2018) and then as County Executive (2018–2024), where she emphasized public safety, education investment, and economic growth.

Born February 23, 1971 in Suitland, Maryland, Alsobrooks earned her B.A. from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. Her political brand blends establishment coalition building with a strong emphasis on equity outcomes, particularly for majority-Black communities in the D.C. metro.

Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2024, she became the first Black woman elected to represent Maryland in the Senate. Her platform has centered on reproductive rights, health care access, criminal justice reform, and expanding economic opportunity.
